During the last Language and Information Technology tutorial, we have taken the Uji Kendiri ICT which is an online test. The test has been prepared by Pusat Pembangunan Akademik. I have done this online test twice; the first time I have taken the Kemahiran Pertengahan ICT which is Sesi Terbuka Ujian Peringkat Pertengahan, the second level. However the test I should take is the first level, that is Kemahiran Asas ICT,Sesi Terbuka Ujian Peringkat Asas. I was mistaken, so I just change it. The highest level is Kemahiran Lanjutan ICT, Sesi Terbuka Ujian Peringkat Lanjutan. There are 30 questions in the test of the first level, each question provided 1 mark and i just got 16 marks from it only, it showed that my proficiency in ICT is quite poor. Frankly, I am quite disappointed for myself. Most of my friend can get a very good result; they even can take the second level of the test. The test that I taken is the basic and simplest but there are still many words I don’t understand, actually it is provided in Malay but not in English, I wonder why it provided in Malay but not in English, or maybe it can provide in both the language to let the test taker choose, seems that English is the global language.
Usually the test is provided in the same question for all of the test takers, but this online test is not, the question provided is totally different for all of us , this is very good because it have not given us the opportunities to copy with each other . Furthermore, when we done the test and submit our answer, the result will come out very fast, it give us the instant feedback, its great! To me, this is randomization. However, the test just told us the mark that we got but not showed us the correct answers, it makes me confused because I don’t know which question I’ve wrong, I need to know the correct answer in order to improved myself

For me, this course is quite good, it tough us all about the ICT and language too. Prof. Madya Datin Dr. Norizan Binti Abdul Razak, or usually we just called her Datin, our lecturer, is very nice, she tough us lots about the ICT. I will give this course 8 mark because it is quite informative. After taking this course, I realized that my typing skill and my knowledge about ICT has improved, before this I don’t really know what is blog? How does it work? Now, I found that blog is really useful, it is one of the ways for us to share our feeling, viewpoints, opinion and so many more…..Although this is our last posting, but I will still continued my blogging. oONLINE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT
In last lectyure, Datin give us the lecture about online language proficiency asessment.From the article: ONLINE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY ASESSMENT by Norizan Abdul Razak, Hazita Azman, Sallehuddin Abdul Aziz, Wong Fook Fei, Afendi Hamat, from UKM. The English language competency test should profile the lecturer 's general english ,language proficiency and english instructional language control in the target language . The test development is guided by the communitive competence theoretical construct within the target "target language use domain" framework( Bachman and Palmer, 1997).
UKM has embraced information and communication technology(ICT) as one of its top manegement agenda UKM produced its ICT blueprint to equip its staff for k-economy and globalization(Aziz Deraman and Syahrul Fahmi,2003). The concept of k-campus as proposed by Aziz Deraman and Syahrul Fahmi(2003) is to establish a knowledge - centric e-campus whereby a web-based system is used to facilitate education knowledge and resouses servises for the campus community and skateholders . Learning care is a wed-based fully intergrated e-learning solution,which provides UKM community a tool to develop, implement and share effectively the use of web- based technology for intra and inter organization learning process.
UKM community is able to subscribe , create and manage the portfolios(courses)available from anywhere in the world learning care asessment module allows the portfolio owners to create and manage questions. The qustions can be programmed in several forums , included fill in the blank, true and false, multiple choice, multipleanswer, matching, ordering and short essays. Learning care does provide a relatively simple interface for test development, scoring and statistic keeping, which made it a good platform for the development of the pilot phase of the online test. The online test provides test results summary and details on the number of user attempts, total test takers attempt,user average score, user highest score ever and overall highscore. The test also needs to be administered in a controlled environment within a specified time frame.
